What the lists agree on
Boulangerie Moderne Rabineau is named by 4 of 10 lists, more than any other bakery here. Three of the four are years of the Grand Paris croissant contest (2023, 2024 and 2025). The fourth is The Infatuation.
Seven places are joint second with 3 lists each. Chez Meunier, the 2023 contest winner, and Le Moulin de la Croix Nivert are named by the contest and by media or guides. The other five are named by media and guides alone.
The contest rarely picks the same bakeries as the media and guide lists. Of the 17 Paris bakeries in the contest results counted here, four also appear on another kind of list: Rabineau, Le Moulin de la Croix Nivert, Chez Meunier and Magali. All six Paris names from the 2026 contest are under Also named. Among the media and guides, The Infatuation names 9 of the 15 ranked bakeries and Gault&Millau names 7.
The 15 ranked bakeries are spread over 10 arrondissements. The 11th has the most, with Boulangerie Utopie, La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac and Magali. Utopie also leads our baguette guide.
Croissants in Paris
The Syndicat des Boulangers du Grand Paris, the trade body for artisan bakers in Paris and the three départements around it, runs the Grand Paris contest every spring. It judges butter croissants made with Charentes-Poitou butter, which has a protected designation of origin (AOP). This guide covers the city of Paris only, so contest winners from the suburbs are left out. That includes the 2025 winner, Des Racines et du Pain in Clamart.
