Food guides: where the lists agree

Each Matcha guide counts how many recognised lists name a place, from award guides like Michelin, Gambero Rosso and 50 Top Pizza to food critics and city media, then ranks places by that count. Every source is linked, every place was checked as open, and nothing is scored or reviewed by us.

How the guides work

One list is one opinion. When an award guide, a food critic and a city magazine all name the same pizzeria, that’s worth knowing. Each guide gathers at least five recognised lists for one food in one city and counts how many name each place.

The guides don’t score, visit or review anything. They show where the lists agree, with every source linked, so you can read the reasons in each list yourself.

Then rank your own

The lists tell you where to start. Matcha keeps track of what you thought: score each dish you try and see your own top 10 for every food and city.

Questions

How are the guides ranked?

By how many of the guide's sources name each place. Places named by two or more lists are ranked; places named once are listed under Also named. Ties share a rank.

Do you review or score the places?

No. We don't visit, score or review them. Each guide compiles what recognised lists say and links every source.

How often are the guides checked?

Each guide shows the date its places were last checked as open. Places close and lists change, so check before you go.

Find your matcha.

From matcha to margherita. Score every dish, see your all-time best ranked, and keep a list of places to try.
