Cicchetti in Venice
Cicchetti (cicheti in Venetian) are the small bites served at the counter of a bacaro, a Venetian wine bar. They range from toppings on bread or polenta to tiny sandwiches, and are usually eaten standing with a small glass of wine.
Several picks are baccalà mantecato, creamed dried cod. Condé Nast Traveler picks it at All’Arco, Scatti di Gusto at Cantine del Vino già Schiavi and Identità Golose at Adriatico Mar. Gambero Rosso picks the polpette at Ca’ d’Oro alla Vedova. For more of Italy, see the top 10 gelato shops in Florence.
